Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer

We are representing one of Ireland’s leading building services engineering consultancies, widely recognised for their work across the data centre, high-tech industrial, and commercial sectors throughout the EMEA region. As they continue to grow, they are now seeking a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer to lead the delivery of complex electrical building services designs within their Data Centre division.

About the Job:

As a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of electrical systems on major projects. You will have strong experience in electrical design and engineering techniques and demonstrate confidence working both independently and collaboratively to meet project timelines and quality standards. You will oversee project electrical design from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with international standards and best practices.

About You:

  • Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering (Chartered status a plus but not essential).
  • 10+ years of experience, including senior-level responsibility on projects.
  • Strong track record in electrical building services design for Data Centre projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical design and applicable standards (ETCI, CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, EN).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech – knowledge of Revit is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept to handover.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience managing specifications and designs across various project types.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Your Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Lead the electrical services design for a portfolio of large-scale projects.
  • Develop detailed schematics and specifications for electrical systems.
  • Drive the development of internal electrical design standards.
  • Mentor and support junior engineering staff.
  • Produce full tender packages and monitor on-site quality through to project closeout.
  • Analyse and evaluate tenders; provide technical recommendations.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and PMs to define project scope and solutions.
  • Confidently manage projects with minimal oversight from senior leadership.
  • Prepare budgets, progress reports, and attend project and site meetings.
