Quantity Surveyor

We’re hiring a QS to join our client in Carlow who is a leading provider of concrete products, specializing in the design, manufacture, and supply of high-quality concrete tanks.

The Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in managing all aspects of cost estimation, budget management, and contractual administration related to their concrete projects. This role involves working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate cost planning, efficient resource allocation, and maximized profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts for various projects.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure projects remain within financial parameters.
  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and material cost analysis.
  • Prepare and manage contracts, including negotiation of terms and conditions with clients and suppliers.
  • Evaluate and manage project variations, providing clear documentation and reporting.
  • Liaise with project teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of project milestones.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify potential cost overruns, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Provide regular financial updates and progress reports to senior management.
  • Manage and negotiate subcontractor accounts, payments, and final accounts.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the concrete or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of cost control, budgeting, and estimating principles.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software for quantity surveying and cost management.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
