Quality Technician

The Opportunity

A leading European manufacturer in the packaging sector is currently seeking a Quality Technician to join their team. The company supplies a broad range of industries with custom, innovative packaging solutions and works with a variety of blue-chip clients and household brands.

Reporting to the Production Manager and Quality Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in promoting quality assurance and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive quality performance and support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organisation.
  • Assist in developing and embedding LEAN systems to improve quality processes and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Facilitate daily and weekly lean meetings and foster lean projects to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Conduct internal quality audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Maintain quality records and ensure robust control of processes, including investigating non-conformances and customer complaints.
  • Determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions, including staff training and awareness initiatives.
  • Liaise with customer auditors and ensure compliance with specifications and effective execution of corrective actions.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the company’s Quality Management System in line with national and international standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to maintain product quality and introduce new products efficiently through well-defined process flows.
  • Work with the procurement team to define and uphold quality expectations throughout the supply chain.
  • Conduct testing and checks to ensure standards are met, updating SOPs and technical documentation as needed.
  • Support the quality inspection and product release process for incoming, in-process, and finished goods.
  • Define and implement clear quality protocols for all staff, including training and education initiatives.
  • Set service standards and manage customer interactions effectively, providing accurate product and process information.
  • Analyse performance data, create statistical reports, monitor KPIs, and propose improvement plans.
  • Track internal and external non-conformance reports (NCRs) and identify trends.
  • Troubleshoot system failures and support the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assist with the Environmental Management System (EMS) and ensure compliance with IPPC license requirements.

Key Requirements

  • Degree or third-level qualification in Science, Food Technology, Production, or a related field.
  • Experience in a similar quality-focused role is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge or experience with Lean Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with a results-driven and organised approach.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible, self-motivated, creative, and dependable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well under pressure.
