Laboratory Technician

Our client is a leading independent milk testing laboratory based in Ireland, established through a joint venture in 2010 to provide high-quality, accredited testing services to the dairy industry. Specializing in milk compositional testing, disease testing, microbiology testing, and payment testing services, the company draws on the extensive expertise of its joint venture partners in milk recording and laboratory operations. With a focus on precision, quality control, and exceptional customer service, they offer a comprehensive range of services to support milk recording organizations and industry stakeholders.

Location: co. Cavan, Ireland

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Reports To: Milk Laboratory Team Leader

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily milk compositional testing in line with established protocols, ensuring the highest quality standards and adherence to time-sensitive requirements.

  • Follow stringent quality control measures and maintain consistency in testing procedures.

  • Support the Laboratory Management team in maintaining smooth operations within the laboratory.

  • Assist in delivering an efficient and high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure accurate sample identification upon reception and take necessary corrective actions when required.

  • Maintain high standards of customer communication, both verbal and written.

  • Perform routine laboratory tasks, including cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas.

  • Carry out any additional duties as assigned by the management team to support overall operations.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • A minimum of a Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification is required.

  • Basic numeracy skills and the ability to communicate effectively.

  • Prior experience in a laboratory or related field is preferred but not mandatory.

  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and use initiative.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • A professional demeanor and the ability to interact with staff and customers in a courteous manner.
