About the Role
An established engineering firm based in Cork is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Manager to oversee all aspects of health, safety, and compliance across its operations. This role is critical in ensuring a safe working environment on project sites and at the company’s headquarters, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Health & Safety Management System in line with current Irish legislation and industry standards.
- Conduct site audits, risk assessments, and safety inspections across multiple engineering project locations.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and develop corrective action plans.
- Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to all staff and subcontractors.
- Monitor compliance with statutory requirements, liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., HSA), and manage documentation/reporting.
- Advise senior management on legal requirements, policy updates, and improvements to safety performance.
- Track and report safety metrics (KPIs) and ensure continuous improvement of safety practices.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a health and safety management role within engineering, construction, or industrial sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and best practices.
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification highly desirable.
- Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification required.
- Proven leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Full driving licence and flexibility to travel to project sites within Ireland as needed.
