We’re looking for an Estimator to join our client who is a leading provider of fire protection and safety solutions, specializing in the design, installation, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems. With a strong reputation for quality and reliability, they deliver exceptional fire safety services across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
You will be overseeing the installation of fire sprinkler systems on-site. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, coordinating teams, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining project timelines and quality standards.
You will be preparing accurate cost estimates for fire sprinkler projects, analyzing project requirements, and supporting the sales and project teams in securing new business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, including material, labour, and overhead costs.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with sales and project teams to develop competitive proposals and bids.
- Identify and assess potential risks associated with projects and provide cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure estimates comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire protection products, materials, and installation methods.
- Assist in post-tender negotiations and provide support during contract finalization.
- Track and analyse project costs to refine future estimating processes.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as an estimator in the fire protection, M&E, or construction industry.
- Strong understanding of fire sprinkler system components, installation methods, and relevant regulations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of relevant fire safety regulations and British Standards (e.g., BS 9251, BS EN 12845) is desirable.
