We are hiring an Estimator to join our client who’s is Ireland’s leading provider of engineering solutions with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality services in the civil, mechanical, and electrical sectors. They specialize in large-scale projects and have built a track record of success in the construction, energy, and industrial industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyse project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for projects.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to assess project costs and risks.
- Source and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure all estimates align with the company’s commercial objectives and industry standards.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and market conditions to provide realistic and competitive pricing.
- Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Prepare tender submissions and participate in the bid review process.
- Provide cost advice and support throughout the project lifecycle, from inception through to completion.
- Update and maintain estimating databases and records.
- Track and report on project costs to ensure they align with initial estimates and identify any discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports for ongoing projects.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an Estimator, ideally within the construction, and electrical sectors.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficient in estimating software.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to produce detailed and accurate cost estimates.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is desirable.
- Knowledge of current construction costs, pricing trends, and material suppliers.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
