Planning Engineer – Utilities

We’re hiring a Planning Engineer to join our client who is a one of Ireland’s leading civil and engineering companies. They deliver large-scale infrastructure projects all over the country and have been growing massively.

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating with local authorities, emergency services, and transport providers to ensure smooth project execution while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle UE Escalations and manage customer complaints efficiently.
  • Process T1 applications and liaise with relevant stakeholders for approvals.
  • Manage road closure applications, ensuring compliance with local authority regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead regarding traffic disruptions.
  • Organize and coordinate Variable Message Signs (VMS) for public notifications.
  • Submit planning applications and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Arrange indemnities as required for works and road closures.
  • Coordinate with customer care teams to facilitate carding for affected residents.
  • Notify blue light services (emergency services) about planned works and disruptions.
  • Draft directional and narrative statements for County Councils (CoCo) on road closures, including descriptions and press release content for public information.

Requirements:

  • Full clean driver’s license essential.
  • A qualification in engineering or equivalent is desirable.
  • Civils, drainage, or utilities (water & electricity) experience.
  • Previous experience and the ability to read designs.
  • Commercially aware of projects costs.
  • Experience with site activities and multiple teams.
  • Good knowledge of HSQE requirements.
  • Good knowledge of ground support systems.
  • Computer literate.
  • Confident, motivated and can work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
  • Time management abilities to meet targets.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy.
