Lincoln recruitment have been exclusively retained by Pieta House to recruit a Director of Finance & Operations.

The Organisation

Pieta House was established in 2006 to help people affected by suicide. In 2018, we saw over 8000 clients who were at risk of suicide, were engaging in self-harm or had been bereaved by suicide. They employ over 200 therapists who provide counselling services to people suffering from suicide ideation, to those who self-harm and to people who need bereavement counselling. Sadly, demand for Pieta’s services continues to grow. It is through the continued support of the Irish people that the work can continue.

The role:

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and a key member of the leadership team, the Director will lead the development and strategic direction of the Finance, Operations, IT, governance and risk areas in Pieta House. You will also work collaborate with senior colleagues and stakeholders to oversee the growth and future sustainability of Pieta. The role will encompass the following elements:

  • Lead and manage Pieta House Finance, Operations & IT departments to the highest level of efficiency, effectiveness and accountability and be proactive in the development of opportunities.
  • Participate in the strategic management and development of Pieta as a member of the Leadership Team.
  • Establish and promote policies and practices that underpin Pieta’s culture and vision.
  • Develop, drive and manage the implementation of the Finance and IT strategies as part of Pieta’s overall strategic plan.
  • Manage strategic communications with partners, regulators and other key external stakeholders.
  • Provide updates to the Board, Finance Committee, Audit & Risk Committee and Leadership team.
  • Lead staff effectively ensuring they receive appropriate supervision and support, their appropriate development needs are met and relevant records are maintained.

The person

The person will be a qualified accountant with at least seven years post qualification experience with a proven capability of working in an organisation of significant complexity and scale. You will have the skills to lead, develop and manage at senior level, demonstrating excellent leadership and people management skills. Proven capacity to manage and develop teams of people from a range of technical backgrounds in high performing, dynamic environments will be essential. You will have an understanding of the role of a Board of Directors and corporate governance with significant IT and reporting skills. Working knowledge of the not for profit sector and SORP2015 would certainly be of benefit.
