About this job

The duties of the Senior Financial Accountant will include but are not limited to the following:

Support the Finance Manager in:

  • Preparation of quarterly consolidation returns to Group.
  • Preparation of annual and quarterly returns submitted to the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Preparation of quarterly financial reports to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Preparation of the annual financial statements.
  • Solvency II reporting, Support External Audit Process, Support Internal Audit Process.
  • Develop, maintain & monitor effective internal financial control environment.
  • Providing information documentation & responding to requests from Internal and External Auditors.
  • Prepare annual income and expense budgets & quarterly forecasts to year end and multi-year. Completion of monthly bank account reconciliations.
  • Finalisation & checking of Trial Balance and (Group) Chart of Accounts.
  • Implementation of internal financial controls including the management of Company expenses incurred including sign off of commission payable.
  • Liaise with Head of Actuarial Function (outsourced).
  • Maintain & Develop Management Information Reporting Systems.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Support CEO and Finance Manager in development of Dublin office functions.
  • Liaise with Italian Fiscal Representative /Manage Italian Advance Tax Payment & Stamp Duty process.
  • Support role in product development, including liaising with company subsidiaries in relation to new product set up on policy administration system and accounting flows.
  • Monitoring of claims and investments as part of business cycle.
  • Monitoring of the investment and system recording of premiums.
  • Monitoring of the dis-investment and system recording of surrender/death claims.
  • Monitoring of switch trades. Monitoring of management fee & rebate trades.
  • Annual tax reporting obligations including but not limited DAC6/CRS/FATCA.
  • Review & report on investment performance (linked and non-linked assets).

Key Characteristics

  • Confident in ability to deliver regular financial reporting requirements.
  • Ability to work autonomously and also be a team player.
  • Appreciation of controls required to manage a regulated life insurance entity.
  • Willingness to develop complementary skills, e.g. SAP.
  • Appreciation of the needs of clients & the distributors.
  • Fluent Italian speaker, not necessarily native speaker.
